Metropolitan Wharf
Identity and signage for a vibrant riverside quarter

- Property & Place
- Brand Identity
- Signage & Wayfinding
Background
Metropolitan Wharf is a Grade II Listed, 6‑storey, purpose built Victorian riverside warehouse. Built between 1862 and 1898 it is one of a London’s most impressive wharf buildings. The overarching concept developed for the building is to create ‘a village within the contours of the wharf’, providing curated facilities that will support the new businesses and residents alike.
Solution
To create and implement a brand identity including a wayfinding and signage system for this iconic and last remaining Grade II listed warehouse in Wapping.
We collaborated closely with interior designer Tom Dixon and architects Hawkins\Brown to deliver a creative vision for the retail, commercial and residential spaces whilst overseeing all production and installation making the process seamless.
The authentic sampling of the engraved letterforms within the fascia of the building inspired a whole new identity and typeface, redrawn and reimagined for a modern interpretation across print, digital and signage.
