Background
A decade on from our initial ‘Made In Italy’ exhibition and campaign, ‘Made In Italy NYC’ took a fresh curatorial look at the profound influence and long-standing design connection between Italy and the U.S with a public exhibition and book launch.
Solution
The graphic design connection between Italy and the U.S. is often reduced to the role and figure of Milan-born Massimo Vignelli, well known for his projects and activities once he moved to New York. However, there are many other Italians and Americans who nurtured this connection, some are key figures in graphic design history; others are less well-known and have been rediscovered recently.
This exhibition and exclusive book was curated to showcase and celebrate the rich heritage of post-war Italian graphic designers including rarely seen work by Massimo Vignelli, Heinz Waibl, Paul Rand, Bruno Munari, Milton Glaser, Walter Ballmer, Enzo Mari etc.
This truly collaborative project involved our close-partners Fedrigoni and Monotype, AIAP (Milan) and Pentagram.
This book and exhibition is a celebration of all things Made in Italy, exploring the rich and untapped vein of Italian graphic design with rarely seen and published work.

SEA
Italian graphic design has a rare power that can still surprise us. Made In Italy NYC contains examples of the warmth, humanity and verve that excited designers half a century ago and continue to inspire today.
