Background
Pioneering, responsible and innovative, the Sansaw Estate has evolved over six generations to become what it is today. With 120 tenanted cottages, an award winning business park and progressive dairy, all set within 3,000 hectares of managed Shropshire countryside, Sansaw offers a holistic vision for rural living and working.
Brief
Since 2007 SEA have worked alongside Sansaw, rolling out the original strategy and identity from digital to physical signage and in 2022 were tasked with carrying out a refresh with a new public wayfinding strategy and design execution revitalising the brand to reflect the many changing aspects of the estate.
Solution
Sansaw combines a deep respect for heritage and tradition with a forward thinking spirit, adapting to new conditions, restoring balance between people, nature and economy.This business approach is reflected within the wayfinding strategy and design using only estate available materials such as reclaimed timber and fabricated using their own estate workshops to ensure maximum impact from a design perspective but minimum impact on the environment.Our design was based on simplicity, using one colour in print production high visibility graphite grey and a Serif typeface with a high x‑height character for legibility, clarity and recognisability, whilst ingraining their
rich heritage and visual identity. Bespoke iconography was created across all internal and external signage touchpoints with an adaptive design for their award winning dairy farm.
